Community of Hope is seeking a Dentist to provide direct, team-based dental care to patients, meeting clinical standards, and improving long-term oral health outcomes, within the appropriate scope of practice.  This position is located at our Conway Health & Resource Center in SW, Washington, DC.

What You'll Do:
  • Provides direct dental care to patients on a daily basis, following approved protocols, including but not limited to examining teeth and gums for all infections and diseases, preparing charts of mouths and teeth, X-rays and diagnosing diseases and lesions, preparing cavities and fills them with appropriate materials, extracting teeth and roots, treating infections and diseases of the mouth and teeth, administering local and general anesthesia, and preparing fits, adjusting and finishing dentures, crowns, and bridgework. 
  • Renders corrective and preventive dental treatment to children and conducts dental health education and screening programs in Marie Reed as time allows. 
  • Gives instruction in oral hygiene and prophylaxis and records information in the chart. 
  • Maintains the required productivity numbers expected by Community of Hope, as set by the board. 
  • Precepts dental students and dental externs during their community medicine rotations or externship, as needed. 
  • Communicates with other providers at COH on issues of patient care, particularly indications of chronic disease discovered during examination. 
  • Completes and locks all progress notes within 3 business days after patient visit.  Completes all e-refill requests within 3 business days.  Completes all billing corrections within 5 business days of the reported correction.  
  • Signs off on all laboratory results, diagnostic imaging results, and referral reports in a timely fashion; sharing this information with patients as appropriate. 
  • Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records and keeping patient information confidential. 
  • Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.

Must-Haves:
  • Dental Degree (DDS, Board Certified preferred) required. 
  • Current license or ability to acquire a DC license in a timely manner required. Any providers who are licensed in Maryland who provide a copy of their license and MD CDS to Talent Management are also eligible for MD licensure reimbursement. 
  • Current CDS and DEA required.  
  • Continuous dental education to maintain license required.  
  • Current BLS certification (ACLS or BLS for the Healthcare Provider or equivalent) required. 
  • Able to work across sites if requested. 
  • Shares Saturday clinic coverage with other providers by completing at least one Saturday shift per month. 
  • Able to work evening hours as needed. 
  • Proof of required vaccinations is required. This includes, but may not be limited to, Flu. COH will consider requests for reasonable accommodations for anyone who cannot be vaccinated for a religious or medical reason, subject to applicable law.

  • Commitment to work with underserved populations in an urban setting. 
  • Ability to work in non-profit environment. 
  • Bilingual in Spanish and/or Amharic a plus.
